
Professor Moninne Howlett
Biography
Dr Moninne Howlett has recently taken up her role as Senior Lecturer at the International College for Pharmaceutical Innovation (ICPI), School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences (PBS), RCSI Ireland. She graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a BSc (Pharm) and obtained a PhD from RCSI in 2019 for her research on the impact of health information technology on medication errors in paediatric intensive care.
Moninne brings a strong background in clinical pharmacy and digital health leadership having worked as a paediatric hospital pharmacist for over 20 years. From 2020-2025, Moninne was the Chief Pharmacy Information Officer for Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) where she led on the digital transformation of medication management for Ireland’s new children’s hospital. In 2022, she was awarded a Fulbright Tech Impact Scholarship facilitating a partnership with the Director of Medication Systems & Informatics at St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. From 2015-2025, Moninne was also the lead on Ireland’s National Paediatric and Neonatal Smart-Pump project driving the standardisation of infusion practices and the use of smart-pump technology across Irish acute hospital and transport services.
Prior to joining RCSI in a full-time capacity, Moninne held the position of Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at RCSI PBS. In this role, she continued to conduct research and has 12 peer-reviewed publications. She has supervised PhD, MSc and undergraduate students, contributed to pharmacy undergraduate teaching and coordinated experiential learning and bedside teaching.
